Re-use...Re-purpose...Re-cyle...

I needed something on my shelf...something that didn't remind me of the cold, snowy winter that is still with us here in New York!  So in an effort to change things up a bit, I decided to reuse bottles I had been saving!  I knew that they would make the perfect decoration some day...(my rationale for keeping them).  :)

These are those cute little French Vanilla Cappuccino bottles that come 4 in a pack...don't ask me where the 4th one is...  ;)  After peeling off the label...I just poured some off-white paint on the inside, swirled it around...slowly turning the bottle making sure all parts of the glass was covered and let it dry.  I found some larger rub on transfers from my scrapbooking stash...cut some cute coordinated ribbon...and there ya have it!  Sooooo easy...and simple!
So here's proof to my hubby that it is OK to hold on to things...to re-use...re-purpose... and
re-cyle!  :)

Favorite Little Reading Corner...

Did you ever have a spot in your house where you know you can go just to "get away from it all?"  And NO...I'm not talking about the bathroom!!!!!!    :)  My little "corner" is here...
I love this spot...especially when it is sunny and warm!!!  I also love the pictures of my kids...a promotional special I came across a while back from the canvaspeople.com!  BEST canvas picture company ever!!!!!  :)  These 81/2 x 11 pictures cost me nothing but shipping and handling...PRICELESS !!!!!!  :)

Birthday gift for turning "The big 30"!

A co-worker turned "30" recently and I volunteered to make a gift commemorating her big day!  I think she liked it...
How to...
  • Buy 30 lollipops/"suckers"...I used what I had left over from Halloween since this was an early November b-day gift  :)
  • find small container (found at $1 Store)
  • place foam block inside - then stick each sucker into foam
  • cover with paper filler so you can't see the foam
  • used scrapbooking circle punches, stickers and toothpicks to make the "30" numbers and the word "sucks"
  • wrap with clear bag ~ attach tag that says:
Turning "30" sucks...
But you don't!
Here's a little something
to make turning "30"
a little sweeter...

Cute - inexpensive gift that just might make turning the "big 30" a little easier!  :)

Some crafting...

Now this isn't an original idea...but it is SO cute that I feel the responsibility to share...and guess what? It is very easy to make!!!!!!   :)  Even better, right?  ;)

Here's the how to:
  • Find a super cute little bottle (if it comes with a top...that's even better!)
  • Buy your favorite smelling liquid potpouri (mine was from Walmart...super inexpensive!)
  • Purchase a package of wooden skewers and cut the sharp points off. Sand the ends if needed...
  • Pour liquid potpouri into bottle, and cover with top.
  • Wrap 6 skewers with cute ribbon...the same that you'll use to wrap around the neck of the bottle.
  • Embellish with some charms (mine is from my scrapbooking collection).
  • Wrap up ~ give to your favorite person ~ and make their day! :)
Easy right????  Happy gift giving...

It's A New Day...

Here goes nothing...I've always wanted to start a blog...so here I am!  Nothing like jumping in head first.  I asked myself...what am I looking to do with my blog...who will be interested and more importantly, what message am I really trying to send?  I hope to discover these answers as I move along in unfamiliar territory, day by day...taking a risk in trying something new!  I hope you will join me on my journey...or at least stop by every so often to let me know how I am doing!  (wink wink) :)
